3: what kind of lighting?

Don't do any light or rock or sand. Just do a power head, heater and sponge filter. Some big peices of PCV and thats it.

Keep the sponge from the filter in your sump and pop it in when you are ready to use your QT. It's better to drain the QT tank when you are not using it. Just do a big water change on your display and use that water in the QT along with a little freshly made saltwater.

If you use rock and sand you can leach meds into the rock and sand. When you are running the QT, do frequent water changes to keep it nice and fresh.

That's what I do anyway. I've seen people who run rock and sand in their QT. You can even leave water in there all the time if you want and just feed some flake in there every few days to keep the bacteria going.

Good luck.

I think an awesome idea is to have it drilled close to the bottom and have a ball valve that you can just open so you can do super fast water changes and draining.

Also, paint paint all the sides except the front. If you can, paint the bottom white so you can see the detritus and clean it out faster. It makes a sick or new fish feel more secure when the sides are painted.

.... sorry I didn't post this all in one but I keep thinking of things once I already posted somthing.
