Need Advice
Ok this is the deal... I have (2) 1'' sea swirls and i think i want to use them as my returns from my sump. I have a dolphin 3000 pump which is quite powerful, i have a predrilled 90 gallon tank with a single overflow and two holes in the bottom of it ( a 2'' and 1.5''). I am assuming that one hole was for the taking of the water from the overflow compartment and the other was for the return line. I think my pump would be moving around 2000 gph back through the sea swirls but i dont think my overflow or sump/refugium could handle this kind of flow. I could be wrong since i am just starting but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how i should run this system. I also have a euro reef cs6 protein skimmer that will be used in sump. I have built my sump 36'' long by 14 wide and 18 inches tall. I have not placed any baffles yet. What should i do? Run a closed loop? If so how exactly does this work? Could i use what would have been the return hole in the overflow to drain water straight to the last area of my sump were the return pump is? That way the rest of the flow through the refugium wouldnt be so high? I really dont know what im doing someone help.

you can run a closed loop on the 2 holes on the botton of your tank...
to reduce the flow put a ball valve on the output of the pump and close it a bit.. this will reduce the gph that you r pump can run...

close loop is a simple in and out process.. you want to plumb a pump into 1 hole preferably the bottom hole and send the return to the second hole
