Almost dead open brain coral?

My brain coral used to look like this when I first added it to the tank:



Now it looks like this:



just worse. Notice the exposed skeleton - the whole coral is exposed (white).

I think it was the hermit crabs or tangs...

Can I rescue it? How?

If the flesh is receding from the skeleton, you might try feeding it. I try feeding my open brain (looks a bit different than yours) and scylomia mysis shrimp, and that seems to help them.

I just caught my peppermint shrimp red handed - the fool was sitting inside the brain coral and seemed like it was feeding on the tissue. There is now about 1% tissue left - everything else is white skeleton. Is there anything I can do apart from feeding it (the shrimps will obviously keep on eating it)?
