cyano problems

I'm having issues with purple cyano and some green hair algae, does anyone have suggestions?

Did you recently get new lights? If so, I would cut back the amount of time you leave them on. That always causes the cyano outbreaks for me.

I'm having a small purple cyano outbreak on my sandbed but I don't know the cause? My lighting hasn't changed for 4 months now. I was thinking of trying to get an invert that eats it...maybe a Tiger Tail Cuke? Any other ideas?

I had the same problem until I started buying my salt water from a different LFS.... and I started rinsing my thawed frozen food before adding it to the tank.... both problems went away in two weeks...hope this helps...

thats not the cause at all(lights) if you want to know how to get rid of it PM me and i will send you a very lengthy write up i have to get rid of it for good....also if anyone tells you to use chemi clean dont!!!! and for my evidence on that here:

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...48#post7730448

if you do the quick (treatment of symptoms) and not cure (the actual causes) this WILL BE YOU so dont touch CHEMI CLEAN

Lights can be a very big contributing factor. Do a search for it and you will find plenty of evidence supporting that.
