feather duster ?

Is it normal for a feather duster to just all of a sudden pop it's head/feather off. All looks normal with the tube and all. Is this some sort of shedding thing?

I had large feather dusters in the past and about once a year they would "lose their heads". I never found out if this was a typical growth pattern or a response to some type of insult/injury. What is good, is that they would grow them back. Took a month or two to get back to looking good. Just my experience your's might be different.

this is normal...sometimes it will grow back, but it can also be a sign of distress. One of mine decided to "jump ship" and expelled himself from his tube. The other two have grown back and are looking better than ever. HTH
