thermometer question

How accurate are those $3 mercury aquarium thermometers?

in my experience they're pretty accurate and there's not much that can go wrong other than breaking one in your tank.

I prefer digital thermometers with an easy external readout. you can buy one at a pet store or Radio Shack.

Don't buy the ultra cheap ones at discount stores though, they're rarely calibrated correctly ime.
