Intro. of Live Rock?

Hello,

I have just started my first salt water tank and was wondering how soon can I introduce live rock? Should I wait until after cycling? or right away?

Jeff

Right away. Live rock actually needs to cycle too, so if you put it in later your tank might cycle again. Live rock is part of the filtration so it helps the cycle too.

Agree. You can put it in right away and let it cycle with the tank. I'm starting another tank and decided to cure the rock seperately. I've got a skimmer, power head and heater in a vat. I just didn't want all the die off in my tank. But again, with no livestock in the tank, either way is just fine.

What all are you running in the container with the lr? I see powerheads and a skimmer.

The tank won't start cycling with out something in there to produce ammonia, so when you put the live rock in there is usually a bit of die of that gets things going

While this rock is curing, I'm also "seeding" the new tank with some ls from another established tank of mine.
