where do i get this wire????
ok so i got an odyssea light fixture for free. it was a four bulb fixture, but 2 of them are 96w, and 2 are 65w...the wire going to the 65w bulbs is melted on one of them...i just need to get this wire to get the thing to run...heres a pic of the whole wire..
this is the bad one.... [IMG] ![]() this is the good one...its on the left. i need another... [IMG] ![]() where do i get one? also, where do i get the power cable that connects to the balast and plugs into the electrical outlet?? thanks mike |

Looks like someone has rewired the light fixture, the tape gives it away. It has the markings of MSHA approved electrical tape used in the mining industry.
If I was you I'd goto Lowe's or HD and get #12 or #10 THHN wire and replace it. THHN wire is good wire that is used in many industrial applications. Good luck |

It just looks like 14 gage two conductor speaker wire with some heat shrink tubing over the end.
No big deal- Use 12 gage and get some heat shrink to protect the socket. |

is that stranded wire that burned?man thats scarey, follow the above post for wire and change out all of it!! gives me shivers

theres no tape on it, but i took the thing apart to rewire it on a smaller housing...so far i've got the 2x96w part of it working, and now i just gotta get the parts for the 2x65...
but my guess at the "tape" would be because its a jebo/odyssea brand..crappy light, but it was free...check out the diy forum to see how far i've gotten so far.. [http]http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=896371[/http] (hopefully that link worked..if not, just copy and paste...

ya that wire was MELTED lol. i think the guy got it too close to the water or something? idk...he said that he saw it "arch" so something had to of happened.
so i just go to HD and ask them for 14 gage two conductor wire? idk..i'm not too good w/wiring lol.

also, if this wire melted like this, that balast cant be safe can it??? should i just get a new one? and if so, whats a decent CHEAP balast, and where do i get it??
