Looks like someone has rewired the light fixture, the tape gives it away. It has the markings of MSHA approved electrical tape used in the mining industry.

If I was you I'd goto Lowe's or HD and get #12 or #10 THHN wire and replace it.

THHN wire is good wire that is used in many industrial applications.

Good luck

It just looks like 14 gage two conductor speaker wire with some heat shrink tubing over the end.

No big deal- Use 12 gage and get some heat shrink to protect the socket.

theres no tape on it, but i took the thing apart to rewire it on a smaller housing...so far i've got the 2x96w part of it working, and now i just gotta get the parts for the 2x65...

but my guess at the "tape" would be because its a jebo/odyssea brand..crappy light, but it was free...check out the diy forum to see how far i've gotten so far..

I have the odyssea lights, works great.

Odyssea epoxy there capacitors terminals, they don't use electrical tape.
