Best way to mount SPS frags

Does a frag encrust faster if layed on its side or mounted upright on a plug? Which do you feel is better?

Thanks

Mike

IMO, they grow faster if theyre mounted on their side.

They just look really funny for a while.

I prefer mounting on the side. I couldn't tell you if it actually encrusts a new base faster, but I know that it definitely makes more branches.

Do you still use super glue when mounting on the side?

you can, it depends if the frag can be easily knocked around. I have found that they do encrst faster, as they have more of their skin touching the rock, so more points to encrust from.

Interesting...I did not know that...I will have to do that from now on...I just assumed that if I did it on a side that had heathly branches it would start to die and eventualy kill the whole frag...guess not and I will be doing this from now on.
