Question
This Saturday i am going on vacation until thursday. I have a friend coming over to add chemicals, add water and everything else i need done two times a day. My question is would it be okay to leave my protein skimmer off for the time i am gone? I dont want to risk it over flowing and me not be there to adjust it and check on it. I plan on doing a large water change the day before i go.

I dont think it would be problem as long as your friend knows not to overfeed your tank. Any chance of having him monitor it? Mabe show him how to unplug it if the skimate reaches a preset level.

Put the proper feeding amounts for each day in a plastic baggy and freeze.

If possible maybe you could run some tubing from the collection cup into a 1 gallon milk carton. This way you could leave the skimmer on and not have to worry about the collection cup overflowing.
