i fit mine in a 10 gallon tank with 4" left over at 1 end so 10" x 16" is very tight. and the over flow would be spelling over the tank if i had not moded the overflow. other wise 12" x 17" is safe. mine is 24 3/8" tall. i think .5" is good for cup removal it pretty much just slides.
