Overnight Shipping? grr FedEx

I would put this in vendor experiences, but it hasnt been 90 days, so if a mod wishes to move it go ahead.

I ordered from LiveAquaria to get a couple more fish and have been very pleased with their overnight shipping.. always gets to me (across the country!) by 12 noon the next day. Today I was watching the FedEx site so I could leave work when it was close to being delivered and it wasnt coming

Called FedEx and there was some technical issue with their plane!! (wouldn't you think FEDEX would have more than 1 plane sitting around??)

They told me basically they cant do **** about it and to call the person I bought it from.

LiveAquaria was very nice as always (thanks Amy!)

They had already put it on priority so it will come first thing in the morning before I had called. When I complained just a bit about paying $35 for overnight shipping and having to change around my schedule they refunded me for the shipping and told me to double my acclimation time and simply call tomorrow if there are any issues with the livestock.

I'm still a bit bummed cause I gotta wait on my fish but thanks again to LiveAquaria.. theres a reason they are the most popular online livestock vendor! (afaik)

Same thing happened to my order from LiveAquaria. They shipped my coral Friday afternoon via FedEx and it got stuck in TN b/c of FedEx's mechanical problems. I didn't get my package until Monday morning @ 10:30 am. 4 of the 5 corals didn't make it.

However LiveAquaria did everything in their power to satisfy me. Everything was replaced at no charge. They even reshipped for Saturday delivery at no charge.

While I am unhappy w/ FedEx's performance (yes I do also wonder how one malfunctioning machine can stop everything, ESPECIALLY when they know they are dealing w/ live animals), LiveAquaria has certainly taken very good care of me.

There is another service - GrayHound bus parcel express (I think this is the name), cheaper, but you have to pick up yourself at the station. My corals arrived safely, 12 hrs in the box.

When stuff like this happens, there was a thread and I'm not sure where it went- but with the huge heat waves going through the US, if you can wait to order over the weekend or at the beginning of the week to have a mon\tues\weds arrival .. you're better off so that when your livestock does come- if there is a problem - well, there's some work days in there as a buffer to get everythign fixed and sent to you asap

I am glad they fixed everything to your liking but I dont think this was fair to them. Why was it their fault that fedex had malfunctions with their planes? I understand they reimbursing your livestock you lose and I think that is great. But they did ship overnight like you payed for. I think reimbursing you with livestock was more than enough. I guess it just doesnt seem fair to them, although I am glad they did what it took to make you happy.

Conceyted,

Welcome to the world of business and charge backs for bad service. I am sure that Liveaquaria is a huge account for FedEX. FedEx will gladly refund the revenue from a few missed shipments without blinking an eye. Overnight freight costs are paid at a premium, normally absorbed by the end customer (you), so don’t worry about refunding of shipping costs you and many others of us have paid for that already. The stock that was replaced by Liveaquaria has also been paid for by hundreds of other people. With any business there is built in costs. Cost for die off, inventory storage, and the list goes on. Have you ever wondered why the LFS prices are much higher then Liveaquaria?

I have had nothing but great service out of LIVEAQUARIA, gald they are looking out for their customers.

Sorry about the economics lesson.

FedEx Pfft

I loove LiveAquaria like all you say, great service. But Fedex? Dont believe them when they say they have technical difficulties. I ordered some live sand in June through Petco. I never got it and never got it. By the second call to Fedex, they say they lost the package but had found it and to give them a couple of days. Last week, still no package. So I call Petco again, they tell me it was delivered two days after ordering according to the tracking info from FedEx. I tell the lady, "Thats odd because it was two days after ordering that I called asking for my package, and tracking info on their site at that time stated still at warehouse." I dont know how they did it, but somehow they went into the system and backdated the delivery date so as to cover themselves.
I finally got a credit last week for something I ordered 6/20. I say Fedex was dishonest. Wish LiveAquaria would use a different company.
