Anyone know what this could be?
Hello All,
Could use some help on getting an ID for this hitchhiker? best picture i could take since its on the backside of my tank. |

Well, it looks like a polyp of some sort. Maybe a tube anemone or perhaps Aiptasia. Can you get a clearer shot?

thats about as clear as i can get, not much room behind the tank and i'm taking the picture blinded hehe. its pink and does kind look like a polyp.

There's a sticky thread on Aiptasia at the top of the forum. If you don't think this animal matches the pictures, you could leave it and see what happens.

It is either a new polip but it could be BAD coral. If it is, get it out ASAP because they will take over your tank!!! I good solution is getting an eye dropper of some sort and putting vingar in it. Squit a little on it from where it is in the tank. It should kill it for a few weeks if not get rid of it....I couldn't get rid off all of mine cause they were wrapped up in a coral of mine that we bought and had no idea what it was at first....Don't worry, a little will not hurt your tank. I did this with a 10 g tank year ago, and nothing has died at all (except the pest coral!!!)

it kinda looks like a colonial hydroid from some pictures i've seen.
if it is are those good or bad? good idea willow i may try that out donw the road from what i can see its sticking to my live rock under a small ledge just under where i have a powerhead pointing. |
