cleaning a glass tank
I purchased a used 72 gallon glass tank. After cleaning the tank out I am unable to remove a cloudy film on the front glass near the bottom and on the top. I have tried razors and vinegar with no luck. Any ideas on how to clean it off?

If a Razor isn't getting it off I don't know what to tell you. I get that film also but a razor takes it off. Was the glass try when you tried to remove it? Try putting a damp towel over it and then using the razor blade.

does the tank have water in it?
if not try soaking some towels in and laying them on the glass leave them on and wet for a few hours . you could also try clr or similar products just make sure you clean out and rinse the tank several times before use. if it is due to a bunch of little scatches there is not much you can do.

The paper towels with vinegar followed by a razor blade really help, but my problem is that while the front and back glass are clean, I can't get the white film off the side glass. I got this used 75 AGA from a friend for free, but after using vinegar then citric acid then hydrochloric acid, all followed by a razor, the side glass still has deposits. Did something happen to the glass? Did AGA use a different type of glass for the sides? They seem to be permenantly etched. Look and tell me what you think.

Fill the tank with tap water and let it set for a day or two than drain and try again.

Looks like limewater residue. CLR will remove it. Just wash it out really well before you put anything back in.

Filled tank with tap water for 36 hrs and drained. Soaked for over 3 hrs with CLR and no change from pictures posted above. What I can't figure out is why the sides have deposits, but the front and back glass are fine. Anyone have any ideas?
