Oceanic sump 1 (bio-chamber or filter sock?)
75 gal Oceanic tank
I'm trying to conserve room in my tank to but baffles in my sump to have so fuge. A filter sock would allow me to do this but at the cost of replacing the sock weekly. The bio-chamber that fits the sump allows me to house egg crate and also carbon (no bio balls would be used) but the chamber would take up a lot of room and a fuge would not be possible. There will be a recirc skimmer used. I'm trying to keep it simple but trying to cover the basics as far as filtering. Can't add another tank in cabinet because space is limited after placing skimmer, pumps, plumbing etc Please help. |

What are the dimensions of the sump, and can you post a picture?

Looks like the oceanic sumps are designed to pretty much be a sump. I would stick with the skimmer and the carbon and not try to use one of the sections of the sump as a refugium.
A separate refugium would be beneficial and you could probably use a small hang-on refugium on your tank or even hang it on the sump. I have used the small cpr aquafuge like this (on the sump) and it actually works quite well. Just place it after the skimmer. The filter sock is also probably not necessary if you are using a carbon bag on the egg crate. The carbon bag will also catch some particles and filter detritus.
