Microbubbles
I just set up my 1st SW tank last week. 175gal FOWLR. I can't seem to get rid of the very fine bubbles being shot out through my returns. I tried adding extra foam blocks to my sump but with little if any success.
I removed the bio balls from my wet/dry, could this be the problem? Any thoughts?

Where are the bubbles comming from? Just fix where they are comming from. For example if they are from your skimmer then adding a filter sock to the end of the output can reduce the amount of micro bubbles being put into the sump.

The bubbles are coming from my skimmer. I cut out a hole in a piece of foam and put that over the skimmer return. Should I get rid of that and add a filter sock instead.
Also, can I add carbon to my wet/dry? If so where? Just drop in sump?

the bioballs do block some of the bubbles, so if they started popping up after you took those out, then i'd say thats it...but just put some live rock rubble/small pieces in there instead of the bioballs. It will block bubbles just the same
