Question Metal Halide Mogual socket or HQI

I am not sure about Mogual or HQI, I am tried to find any information about mogual and HQI in forums, seems can't find any threat, maybe I am overmiss, I am too busy to looking the best price for MH ballast and reflector and VHO ballast.

what is difference between of Mogual and HQI and what is your perference and best suitable for tank? honestly this is big challenges me to know which is good, there are many many stuffs to choose for my tank.

ballast is easy to doing my self or suggest to buy ballast with ready to connect plug to mogual? I have no problem but maybe to hassle for wiring?

I have the same question, Mogul vs HQI? Anyone care to comment or direct me to previous threads on this?

DE bulbs are smaller, and the reflectors tend to cover a small footprint. They also usually need a UV shield glass piece.

SE bulbs are bigger (duh), and the glass shield is always built in.

I prefer HQI + DE bulbs for higher output and longer bulb life... eventually, SEs will be replaced with DE for this reason. The spread of the light depends on the reflector... you can get DE lumenarcs if you prefer a wider coverage. DE bulbs are made to a higher spec than SE bulbs though.

Do they produce the same amount of light per watt of energy used?
Do they produce the same amount of heat?
Does one last longer than the other?

DE = double ended SE= single ended, you are correct.

DE bulbs have a higher output over their lifespan because they last longer. SE bulbs can lose up to 60% of their output in a year.
