movable light hoods
i am trying to figure out the lighting arrangement over a tank in the planning stages.
tank to be 8x4x3. SPS, and mixed reef, so halides. it can and will be vented from inside the hood to the outside. i have as much room over the tank as needed. i want something that can easily be moved out of the way for working in the tank. i love the oregonreef.com setup but don't have that kind of arrangement. only vertical over the tank, for about 10 feet. show me your arrangements. thank you, Carl |

i remember a thread on where someone used an old electric scooter that they used the motor and pinion on and put it in the attic the connected the hood to it and when you pressed a button it raised up.. you dont have to go to that extent of course but it was really cool.. maybe do something like those pulley bike lifts beefed up a bit and attach that or your own custom one to the canopy and do something like that.. these are just ideas.. sorry i dont have any photos

try the large tank forums, there have been some threads where they used motors to lift the front of the canopies open so they could do work.
