Upgrading - time to get rid of bubble alage

I'm going to be upgrading from a 30H to a 55S. I currently have a big bubble algae problem. I was wondering if I could set up 2 buckets of salt water. 1. to give each piece of rock a good scrub and the 2nd rinse it off , before putting it in the 55. I was told to never break open the bubble algae, so not to spread the spores that are inside creating more algae, but sense it's not going to be in the tank water I should be OK. I'm I correct? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

i had the mgr of my lfs tell me that there is gas in the bubbles, not spores... and that the bubbles become sporaliscious when they get soft. sounds contrary to popular opinion. anyone have any research results vs opinions?

When I moved two years ago I have a very bad valonia problem. I got a couple stiff toothbrushes and went to town on all the rock. I scrubbed every peice until I couldnt find anymore. After scrubbing I rinsed them off in two buckets just like youre talking about. I didnt see another bubble for a long time.

That's what I've been told "get emerald crads. well I have about 10 in the 30g and still bubble. every once in a while I will see one of them picking at it but never enough to get rid of it.

manual removal is best, out of tank better.

i just cooked my lr and cleaned some valonia off before the rock could come back

added a good algea eating tang,s and a few more emerald crabs.

so far so good we,ll se bubbles are tough to get rid of sometimes

Some peoples valonia problem is way beyond fixing it with emerald crabs. You could see more valonia than rock in mine.

gas in the bubbles??????? gas my a$$--i bust it and it oozes out like the gushers fruit snacks. and the shells are hard until the are popped, then they are just a "membrane" very soft. manual removal and prevention are the best tactics.
