biological filtration in sump
ok here's the deal boys and girls...I have 110 gal fish with LR. I started it Thursday of last week. I have a 20 gal sump with a coral life skimmer, 2 1" overflow hoses comming down from my CPR overflow, and a 1150 gph return pump. I am carbon filtering the overflow water as it enters the sump just behind the skimmer. The skimmer is not really running full time because I need to work on it. I still need to put deviders in the sump. But most of all a need a bio filter. I thought maybe I should reley on mother nature a use a live rock with snails. If I used an Ehiem wet dry, could I hook it to the skimmer output or would I hook it to the overflows?

Coulpe things come to mind. Your LR (if you have 1+lb /gallon) wil be all the biological filter you need. If you are going to try to use a CSS skimmer You will need to get the baffles in your sump ASAP. The CSS skimmers must have a stable water level to even try to get them to work. If you are running carbon try doing so after your skimmer.
