Night time
Are there any needs to shutoff certain equipment ex: (skimmers - main pump - any reactors) in the sump at night other then the main lights?

There is no need to do that. I believe that some people turn down the some of the waterflow at night but there's no need to do that. Keep the protein skimmer going all the time. Keeping the calcium reactor going all the time will keep your pH constant so do that too. If part of your sump is a refugium, then have the lights over it on when the tank lights are off and vice versa.

I never quite understood why some people would turn down the pumps at night. The ocean currents rage 24/7.

I had a real noisy pump on my skimmer once and instead of droping a dime to replace it I would just turn it off at night and when we watched a movie. That thing was so loud it would keep you up if it wasnt unplugged.
Thats the only reason why I can see anyone turing off equipment in thier tank at night for. |
