i am not sure, but i believe they like A LOT less flow than what a reef needs to thrive.

Seahorses are slow, methodical hunters and would not do well with any of your present fish and anemone. And as stated previously by everl0ng, would be literally 'blown away' by the turn-over rates of the standard reef tank.
Before deciding if you want to really keep seahorses, may I suggest a little study of the subject first? The best places to find this info is the Seahorses & Pipefish forum here on RC and the forums at Seahorse.Org . HTH

No, I'm not the tang police or anything, but once your tangs get larger, you'll probably have to take them out also.

Sea Horses should be kept in their OWN tanks. Like stated about they are very slow and need to be well fed. You have 2 large and fast eating fish that would demolish them. Fish are fast swimmers and would eat up any and all food that was placed into the tank before horses knew what happened. Check out those links above and try setting up a tank for them. Like dc stated also those tangs are going to need a new home soon. The hippos get 12" and the yellow will get 9". I am pushing it with a Hippo in my 55g until the 125 is ready and I dont think the 55 is big enough let alone a 40. I would seriously think about upgrading to a larger tank for the tangs before doing anything with horses.

Yes, your reef tank is suitable for reef horses. Let unmentioned that there aren't any reef horses. As already said (I feel like I've helped if I restate the already stated?), they should have a lagoonal tank on their own.

if u want a seahorse... go get a bigger tank for ur reef, then use your 40g tank for a visable fuge, keep your macro algea to one side using some eggcrate and then stick some low light loving gorgonians and some live rock in the main area and there u go seahorse in your reef SYSTEM... not in ur reef but its the best u can do imo....

That would work if you're going for dwarfs. All the reccommendations I've seen for them is 30 gallons. I have that cube, and I have 2 perculas in it. Put them in your 40 and get a bigger tank for the tangs.

As dc said, that would be a more suitable tank for the dwarf SH... unfortunately, living in the UK, the chances of you being able to get them under CITES is pretty slim.
Again, I would check out Seahorse.org for more info on what species are available to you and what equipment you will need to properly care for these wonderful creatures. There are many SH keepers in the UK on the Org's discussion boards that I'm sure would be more than willing to get you off to a good start.

also, you need a bigger tank just for your tangs, 40 gallons really isnt enough for them when they start nearing full size (sorry to be a tang policeman) but any excuse to get a bigger tanks is worth it right?
