Quiet skimmers????

Are there any "silent" skimmers or are they all like Niagra Falls?

I use the euroreef and ASM skimmers and they are really quiet. As long as you have the cabinet doors closed it should make a sound. The only noise I hear from my tank is my chiller, which doesn't go on too often.

My Lifereef skimmer is very quite as well...it runs off a Mag9.5 and does a wonderful job.

Check it out at www.lifereef.com for pics...Jeff at Lifereef is a really great and most helpful guy.

I have the VS2-24S In-Sump model on my 100g reef.

uhh a mag9.5 and a Sedra 3000- or 5000 are loud to me.. I guess it depends on what you consider quiet..

That said my ASM G4 isn't very loud considering its size.. But I still think its pretty loud.. Not something I'd want beside my Livingroom TV or in my Bedroom..

I think it depends on the pump. I think my Sedra 5000 is quiet but my Mag 7 is loud to me. With the doors closed I can't hear my Sedra. My Mag I can hear from 5' away.

Could be...I cannot hear the Mag9.5 with the cabinet doors open. The only pump I can hear is the slight hum of the Iwaki 30RLT I use for a return...and the chiller whenever it kicks in...

The venturi is also inaudible since it is vented from the inside of the collection cup by design.
