flow/air less nitrates?
ok this thought just hit me...
if I remove the glass lid from my tank..buy some legs for my lights..and add maybe another powerhead..that way i would have 2 moving the top water instead of 1/....could that help lowering nitrates ? I heard something..somewhere before that if you dont get a good gas exchange that can cause the nitrates to stay in the water because they arent being diverted out of the tank via gas exchanges?? am I right or am I on crack? lol |

well any help I can get in lowering them is good. cause I am having a long lasting battle with them. I do large water changes using ro/di water...and it knows them down to about 20ppm but usually withing a week they are back up to 80ppm...I dont overfeed, I have 45 lbs LR in a 29 gal. I use a skimmer that gets good skimate,,,i used chaeto algae...you name it..I've been there and done that and they still skyrocket..however..I did a large water change last weekend...and it knocked them to 20ppm..and I tested today and they are still at 20 ppm...wooowhooo!!
