too much lighting?

I was at the local fish store and i saw the coral life light 300 watt 2 bulb MH for $350 (saw online for 499). I have a 46 gal bow front so im running about 6.5 watts per gal. Is that too much light? is there such thing what do you guys think.

Forget the whole watts per gallon rule. Not a good rule to go by since all lighting if differen't such as 150 watts of pc isn't the same a 150 watt mh bulb. You should be fine, but keep an eye on your water temperature.
