I HATE suction cups!
I have 3 Maxi Jet 1200's and I have now moved them all 3 to the back of the tank. I had 1 on each side and 1 in the middle back that was just for aggitation on the surface.
Nonetheless I have moved the 2 on the sides to the back of the tank and aimed them to still blow across the live rock and create current. so basically they are aim sideways at a 90 degree angle. The reason I moved them in because no matter how clean or how much I scrub the glass and clean off the suction cups they keep letting go. They fall and blow all the sand up in that area down to the bare glass while I am at work. The reason I moved them to the back is because now I have taped the power cord so if the cups let go it cant fall anywhere really. Please tell me there is some other fix??? |

suction cups suck...or they dont lol. But i have the same problem. They just dont stick to my glass even after soaking them/ buying new ones. i prolly got 25 extra suction cups layin around.
But anyways...do you still have that one plastic peice that you can hang them with? (or are they way down far in the water? I kinda rigged mine up to that long skinny piece of plastick. I dont think its sposed to be used to hang it, but it worked.

I use the overhang piece now, but I have siliconed them on, and they stay on a very long time.

I am going to use the large size to hold my seios, they have a good grip on them when you are cleaning the glass, I think it will work, gonna have to, even if I expoxy the dam things to the glass, lol

3rd that on the Sure Grips. I've also superglued a mag float to hold up a seio in my makeup water can. Works like a charm.
The nice thing about the Sure Grips is that they come with attachments to hold your MJs or your Seio or a Tunze. A word of advice on the Sure Grip 100: Be careful to not get body parts between the two magnets. Damn near broke my finger the other day. The 50's are much less _violent_. |

ya when you get them..put both pieces on the glass (opposite sides of course lol) and then slowly slide them together. That way they dont smack the glass and break it. NEVER try to put the one on the outside on directly over the one on the inside...that'd be very bad if it was one of the larger ones.

I will prolly switch to the magnets thats a good idea... that would be about $75 or so not counting shipping. How would one epoxy or silicone? You must drain all the water and wait for it to dry right? Magnets seem like much faster and easier route.

OHHHH epoxy it to magfloats! ok thats a great Idea... heck walmart has those cheaper magfloat ripoffs I bet would be strong enough to hold it and they are only like $7-$10 a piece.

I silicone a couple 2"x1"x1/2" ceramic magnets on the suction cup holder and used two on the ouside of the glass. They are very low profile and only cost about $4. Been there about a year.
