G2 questions

I have a G2 that I used in my 55 gal reef with 20gal sump and 15 gal fuge. I have recently upgraded to a 90 gal tank, I would prefer not to get an new skimmer since I think the G2 can handle that anyway, but I do have 2 questions. The skimmer never did produce much skimmate in the cup, but it does skim well, it just builds up in the neck so think that I have to use a butterknife to scrape all the sludge out. Is this something that the gate mod would fix? Also, would I get any benefit to upgrading pumps to the next Sedra up? I noticed the main difference between the normal series and X series is the pump. Would I get increased performance?

thanks

I think a G2 Can handle a 90. I have a G3 on a 125 and it keeps up no problem. How much water do you have yhe G2 in? I had my G3 in 8 inches and it skimmed pretty good. Its now in 10 inches and it seems to be skimming better but the water level seems a little touchy. The gate valve mod is breeze to do. Its does not directly help the skimate production, but it makes setting the water level so much easier which does help the skimmer work better. You can try e-mailing rob at ASM skimmer.com rbaker@bigfoot.com Best of luck to you.
