Like the title of the thread asks, would it be ok to use white acrylic instead of starboard in the bottom of a glass barebottom tank? What would the issues be of using it? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Acrylic will warp over time allowing detritus to get under it. Either use HDPE and silicone it in place or go right on the glass. I go on the glass on all of my setups.

If acrylic will warp, why is it used in tank construction, then? Honestly not trying to be 'smart', just wondering. Is it the thickness of the tank walls, as opposed to the thickness that you assume would be used to line the bottom of a glass tank?
