cray fish? lobster??
I have a burrowing small crayfish-like creature. Only seen at night and only seen pushing out sand. Light colored with reddish bands. He is about 2" long and makes tunnels and trenches. Good, bad? How could I catch him?

Do you hear loud clicking noises at night?
Google mantis shrimp and see if that's what you saw.

No, it sounds like an Alpheid shrimp--a Caridean, not a lobster.

Not a mantis. No popping. Has front claws like an emerald crab or Maine lobster. Very short viewing, haven't been able to get pictures.

Amphiprion, you are right. I found a video at
http://www.oceanfootage.com/stockfoo...6aa4c5549d35ab It is listed as "shrimp excavating shared goby hole". It messes my sand up by piling it outside of it's burrows. Can I trap him?

Probably not. You will have to excavate his burrow and catch him.

I'd have to remove my LR. Not going to happen. I guess I'll have to live with him. Thanks for the input.
