How do I disconnect the wire from a T5 end cap?

I have to rewire my entire T5 system...it's a long story with me looking stupid in the end. So I will skip the details. However, I can't seem to get the wires to disconnect from the end caps. Any hints?

stick a small nail or paperclip alongside the wire then pull both out

just make sure to have the unit un plugged LOL
