SLS new Tek fixture and i am ****ed...any help from other reefers appreciated
So I start stocking my tank with Acros and other nice stuff.....run a SLS 4 bulb tek fixture(been doing so for 2 months) and behold.....the 2 daylight bulbs wont come on. I tryed other outlets...with and without the timer....the green light on the power button does come on when you turn the switch "on" but no the bulbs dont fire up.
Does this sound familiar?? Can anyone help me out? Sunlight SuPPly sure aint ****ing helping me so maybe you all can take a stab at it...if i dont get it fixed within a day i suspect the corals are going to start their demise with only 2 blue plus bulbs running!!! |

have you tried switching out your actinic bulbs into your daylight slots to see if maybe its the daylight bulbs are bad. i have not worked with any t5's before but i know vhos are pretty tempermental about both bulbs working properly.

well only 20 minutes later i have it resolved....no thanks to sunlight supply....
here is what was wrong..i checked the bulbs.....they arent defective they fired up in the 2 parts that were working.....so.... i reconnected everything how it was....went up and out of frustration started tinkering with the bulbs.....boom white light ...taaddddoww...however when i turned them off via the timer to mess withit....they wouldnt fire back up....turned the bulbs and they come back on... it is the sockets that hold the 2 bulbs...they are either defective or something..who knows i could have done it but doubt it because i havent touched them until today.... Greg at ReefGeek is sending me some free sockets so i can fix it myself.....Greg unlike SLS is concerned about his customers and understands that we cant just send in our lights to be repaired or buy "temporary lighting" as SLS calls it....THANKS GREG. you are the man and to SLS------if you cared about your customers like we cared about our livestock your company would have no limits to its growth....however when other people who have like i have jump on the T5 bandwagon find out your customer service is flat out nonexistent like i did you will be punished for it What SLS told me to do was send in the fixture and they will return it whenver they get it done.....they dont give out new fixtures after 30 days even if they are defective...they just try to repair them...and as for the question--------------- What am i supposed to do for lighting for the time period my lights are being fixed? ---------they respond you need to buy another lighting fixture for temporary use And my response to this response is another question----Hey dip****s!! If i buy another fixture from either you or another company why the hell would i want you to fix it if I am buying a new fixture???? of course i can run my fuge lights(2 65 w pc's) over my acros, montis and clams but hey i might as well just drop them in a bucket of bleach or a bucket of dog ****.....either way by the time the lights get back thats what the corals will look like i suggest SLS come up with better methods of recourse for their customers....as a dedicated hobbyist i spend plenty of money in this industry and expect to be treated like it im stopping my rant but it had to be put out there.... SLS--->>>get with it.... reef geek---->>>by far the best vendor i have ever dealt with...best service, prices and packaging...Greg runs a great ship and i dont doubt that any company would be better suited to do business like him |
