current nova extreme t-5 any good
I have a 55G tank. I was looking to get a T-5 light. Was wodering how the Current Nova extreme was. Thats the 432 watt one. I have a 55G tank. 4Feet long. Is that to much light? or should I go with the regular nova. Also how do they compare to the Tek T-5 and some of the other T-5 lighting

My buddy has the 24" nova and its a nice light 96 total watts, then i bought the tek t5, same 96 watts but with individual reflectors . my tek is twice as bright as his nova and now he went out and bought one my tek set up was about 100 bucks more than his but i feel it was well worth it!! and so does he!!!

I like teks bc of the idv. reflectors, and because you get to choose better bulbs.

I have had the 8 light Nova Extreme on my 55 for 6-7 months now. Plenty of light, all corals (Softies, LPS and a few SPS) are doing extremely well. I'm happy with them.

jcgso, I am planning a 55 and would like to go with the 8 light model but I see it is 14 inches wide.(as per current-usa.com) and a standard 55 gallon tank is only 13 inches wide. It looks like a great fixture at a good price.

It does hang over the front about an inch, but doesn't look bad. If I didn't have a hang on back refugium, I could slide it back. You won't loose any light. I am very pleased with the light. If I have one complaint, it's the plastic legs.
