Skimmer for a 210G

Ok, My father in law needs a skimmer for his 210 gallon tank he will also have a 55 gallon sump.

He will have live rock, fish and coral. I dont think it will be too heavily stocked.

He is kinda frugal

He was pretty stunned when he found out i paid close to $500 for my skimmer. I'm sure i will have to find a used one for him but would think $350 would be what he i swilling to spend.

Is a ASM G3 too small? Its rating seems to say not, but some ratings are bogus, i know

How is the PS-PC-3000 says it rated for 450 gallons and is only $239?

It is the second from the bottom

Thanks for the help,

Davey

I have a friend that is setting up a 220 gal with a 55 gal sump. We are going to build his skimmer DIY because of the cost to get a decent one for that size tank.

I am watching this thread!

An ASM would probably be your best bet. The G-4+ with the Sedra 9000 would be the way to go of you want it under the cabinet and the G-4x if you put it outside the stand.

My vote is for the Octopus skimmer (AKA PS-PC-3000)
Better built and similar performance yet cheaper.

Heck you could even get a recirculating model of the Octopus for about the same price as the non-recirc G4

By the way there's a reason why http://www.asmskimmer.com will no longer be carrying ASM skimmers.
