I am using 2 of them in my 120. Haven't had a probelm with either one. They have worked great since May.

Hope that helps.

I didn't get a chance to check drsfostersmith, but premiumaquatics has it for really cheap.

I also hear mixed reviews, but a friend has it, and it really is quiet and reliable.

I see a lot of posts of restart problems with QO pumps. Also not all that quiet. The user comments on the pump on the MD site say the same thing.

restart problems by rockitrob
Sometimes does not restart. Big problem in the event of a power failure! Moves water OK for wattage.

impeller worn in only a year by Fishman
I'm disappointed in this so called quiet one pump as it is all but quiet. It has a loud buzz. The ceramic shaft impeller seems to be worn after only a year of operation.Pentair customer support stinks

Quiet One - Not the one for me by JOEL
I do not recommend. I had one which shorted out within a year of ownership. I bought another one to replace it and like the original it has re-start issues.

will not re-start by Chris Belcher
WILL NOT RE_START! Big problem, not at all quiet either.

I was thinking about a mag 7 but I have read a lot of problems with them being loud also. I would like to move about 550 gph at 4-4.5 feet. Any ideas on a pump?

Yes, the Mag7 is a noisy pump. Eheim 1260 would be good, but I dont think will do 550 GPH @ that head. It would have a lot more flow than a Mag7 though. You could get a 1262 and throttle it back with a ball valve to get the desired flow rate. This does not hurt the pump at all.

I have a QuietOne 3000 - It's quiet and low power but I hate it - the restart problem is horrible for me - takes me 20 minutes to get it going again even when it's perfectly clean inside.... I'm getting a Mag or Eheim instead soon. YMMV

I had the 4000 and had restart problems as well. Returned for a mag 7.
