CSS-65 pump

I have a CSS-65. Thinking again I will need to replace the RIO pump I am sure.

What do you recommend for a replacement pump? Needs to be a needle-wheel.

I think a Sedra or Gen-X pump would would work. not sure on model numbers without looking it up. Why are you replacing it? Ive had a CSS 65 running for about a year with no problems.

The RIO pump is loud as heck, first of all.

Second I have read the stories about meltdowns from RIOs and I thought I may as well replace it since it is loud anyway and use the RIO as a utility pump for mixing water, water changes, etc.

Yeah the pumps are pretty loud cant argue there. I too have heard the stories of rio meltdowns, but that doesnt seem to hold true for the css pumps. IIRC i think the css pumps might be made by somebody else with the rio name stamped on. There is a thread on here somewhere, one of the "CSS owners club" type that was miles long that more than likely has info on good pump replacements and all that.
