Potassium calibrating mix
Hi Randy
I have recently purchased a Koralin Zucht potassium testing kit, but it is a little hard to read. To help me know just how to read it correctly, I hope you can tell me how to make a potassium calibrating mix. I have some granulated potassium chloride, in appearance and grain size, it is similar to table salt. I wondered if you could tell me how much to mix with some RODI water, to make a mix, preferably around the same as seawater ( 380 or so ), so I can use this as a standard to check I am reading the test kit correctly. BTW, I do not have the technology to weigh a small quantity of the potassium chloride, but I can certainly measure a few mls, so would be great if the formula could be expressed as so many mls of potassium chloride, to so many mls of water. ![]() I know there is debate about the benefit or otherwise of potassium in a reef, however for me, I like the effect it has, but I hope this thread can be simply to discuss how to make the calibrating mix. Thanks ![]() |

Realised I meant to post this in the chemistry forum, too late to edit.
