How come i cant keep GSP's????

no matter what i do, i cant seem to keep GSP's alive in my 50 gallon or 12 gallon nano. All my other corals, Xenia, yellow polys, shrooms, rics, galexia, hammer, candy cane, kenya trees are doing fine, but this is the second GSP's i have gotten that just dont open and eventually die? Lighting on both tanks are Power Compacts, tried moving them all around, high flow, low flow, high light, low light..... and nothing. any ideas????

Jeff

Are you sure they are dead? when I got mine 2+ years ago didn't open for like 2+ weeks. Just look that the purple matt is not breaking up.

my first set in my 50 gallon were alive for around 6 months, one day they didnt open, and never opened again, no mat left. This secon frag i got from a buddy, who i gave a frag of mine and they are doing great in his tank, my frag i have had for around a month and a half and havent been open for like three weeks now.

I realize it's frustrating to not be able to sustain GSP's, but if it's any consolation, you're probably better off without them anyway. I've got GSP's in my tank that grows like a weed. It's actually very invasive once it gets going and starts to take over the tank. Maybe you've been lucky that it never got started and could turn your attention to another type of coral.
