Question which protien skimmer

I am looking at different skimmers. I would like some of your insight as to which one or ones are most effiencient and user frienly. I am looking at Coralife super skimmer 65, Red Sea berlin,Typhoon, prizm, back Pack 2, or an odd one I have never heard of which is a Jebo. Thanks to all and my tank is a 50 g and I will be adding a 10-20 sump/fuge.

In a very similar system, I'm using the Urchin, but wish I had the Urchin Pro. It's an in-sump, no-moving parts skimmer that's hardy, easy to clean, and fairly efficient for its price.

Of the ones you have listed the Coralife is probably the better one. I would also look at the AquaC Remora or Urchin and the Octopus Skimmers, also the smaller Euro-Reef. Trust me, you get what you pay for with skimmers.

I have a back pack 2 on my 100 gal tank and it just does not do the job. I am cleaning the reservoir every night. I also have a ER RC-500 on my 250 gal and boy does it work!! Spend the money - you will be happier and your tank will run better.

I was happy with my Remora/maxijet1200, which I used for a 55 gal, and now that I have a 120 I upgraded to the Remora Pro/mag3--also very happy. I think the Remora/Urchin would be good enough for a 50gal if you won't overdo on the bio-load. The Pro model is a bit more expensive. If your sump is fairly small, which mine was, it might be better to get the hang-on Remora model.

Plus the AquaC people are very nice if you ever have questions or need small parts replaced.

I had the Prizm with the deluxe kit originally and was not a fan.

I use the Coralife 65 on my 30 gallon cube. Easy to adjust to the type of foam, hang on skimmer, easy to clean and easy to work with.

I have been very satisfied and have used several skimmers of the last 10 years.
