is this sand ok?
This is play sand from Lowes. Has anyone used this sand before or know if it is ok for a reef?

There is alot of debate over whether generic sand is OK. The true experts say it is OK but many self proclaimed experts seem to disagree. It is certainly not the best. It has the advantage of being cheap and that is it. If you have a Home Depot near by the Kolarscape sand they have is better than the generic play sand.

Yeah many people have been using the kolorscape from Home Depot with good results. I have bought that for my new tank, but not used it yet.

If you can get clean sea-sand from the beach at low tide would be another way to get good cheap sand.
