Home depot pool filter sand by pavestone
I bought some pool filter sand from home depot and I havent put it in yet. I am trying to find out if it will hurt anything. I am wanting to stick it in the sump just for decoration and to put plants in. it is very fine small sand flakes. I want to try it, but I dont want to kill my livestock. Is that possible?

It should be okay to use. It might be a bit coarse to support much life, but that might not matter to you. Do you happen to have a link for the exact product you bought, or a chemical analysis? Most of that sand is just silica, which is safe.

Personally, I'd probably just go ahead and use it, but without any data sheet or indication of the type of sand, I'm just guessing.
