How does Coralline Algae begin to form?

I have some purple fuzzy looking stuff starting to form on my LR? Is this how Coralline algae forms? I am almost through with the cycle.(3rd week)

Ammonia- 0-.25
Nitrites- 1.0
Nitrates- 10?
PH 8.2
Salinity- 1.025
Temp.- 78.5-80.0

MH lights on for 4 hours a day. Probably causing a hair algae bloom. I did this to concerve what C. Algae was on the LR when I got it. Thanks.

Your purple coraline should not be fuzzy. Do you have a pic? It could be cyano if it is more of a dark maroon.

its possible that there is coraline already on your live rock, but its unusual to see coraline when your tank is just done cycling. it usually takes a bit longer. sounds like cyano to me also, do you have enough water flow in the tank?

I have 3 maxi Jet 1200's. Looks like a hurricane is coming a shore. I can't get a clear pic on it.

I have a RO unit. The funny thing about the growth is that it grows best in the direct flow from the Powerheads. Weird.

I had a SW tank years ago and had a huge cyano outbreak. This growth is a bright purple. It grows in little circles. Cyano, from what I remember grows differently. I might be wrong. I am just waiting on the Nitrites to be 0, so I can do a water change. Patience is my virtue.

Coraline is hard, so if it is fuzzy then its something else.

Not cyano from what you are saying. I have never seen fuzzy purple coraline though. Does the purple circles have an outer edge of white around it? If so that is coraline.
