Orca RA-05

This is the tank I bought from the LFS, as my first set up. Unfortunately it didnt come with its box, could someone point me in the direction of the manufactuer so I can work out the specs and possible routes of upgrading the lights etc...

Is there a description on a web page somewhere? Can you post a link?

Well I was hoping you guys could help me with that.

I dont know much about it. what I do know follows:

1 X 28 watt T8 pc 50/50 10k.
80 litres
Chem & Bio filtration

As far as flowrate unsure.

well this is what she looks like.

Any help would be great.

Looking at the light in there, it's a PC. I would probably build your own hood and add one or two more PC's to increase lighting. Not a bad looking tank though. What are you doing as far as filtration besides LR?

The filtration is setup in three chambers.

1. Sponge
2. Carbon and ceramic ring media
3. Heater and return pump

I have printed a thread from the nano forum that has different setups.

So I may end up replicating one of these.

As far as the lighting I may end up ordering a kit from Nanotuners.

Nano Tuners

As far as the pump I have no idea of its output.

But any other ideas and thoughts would be rather handy, thanks.

That lighting is okay for low-light corals.

I would use live rock for filtration, and not use the sponge or ceramic rings. Since the tank is set up, though, you might want to leave well enough alone.

Should make a nice nano!

Thanks.

I hope to eventually call my tank a nanoreef.
Roughly a 9 month stocking plan.

Test results taken tonight
Ammonia- 0
Nitrates- 10
PH 8.2
Salinity- 1.025
Temp.- 24 - 25 degrees Celsius

Water change due tomorrow..

Any suggestions as to which corals ?

My LFS has told me to drop my Salinity to 1.020 - 1.022, is this good advice or bogus?

I think the LFS advice is bogus. The canonical average seawater is about 1.026-1.027, although the sea does vary from place to place. 1.022 is too low, though.

Lots of people like mushroom corals and Xenia, although Xenia can spread rapidly. Same for green star polyps and zoanthids.

All cool, have read about it on Liveaquaria. Am in the process with a turbo snail and hermit carb, that I picked up today.

Could anyone give me an idea as to what type of hermit he is ?

Cream in colour with tan bands, larger left Pincer. Hes roughly half an inch in size.

Judging from the weight I would say its glass. I'm off to the LFS that bought it from tomorrow, I will endevour to find out more.

Just noticed that my Hermit likes to bury himself.

Just got back from LFS.

The tank is curved glass. The return pump is rated at 1100 L/ph, the tank is 80 Ltr, so the flowrate is almost 14X the capacity.
