custom sump being built
hi all.
i am getting a custom sump made and here is my design idea: if anyone can shed some light on my idea please, if it will work, any suggestions to make it better... etc thanks also if you can post a pic of your sump just in case its better than mine and want to use it on my new tank tom |

I don't know much about these designs
But it looks to me like that ceramic/wall should be higher, if not the water will flow over the top of it right? Maybe thats the plan....

I would eliminate the ceramic, fluff and foam block. I had a sump that used foam blocks and filter bags. I had to clean them daily. They were a major PITA. If possible have your overflow plumbed directly into the input of your protein skimmer. This will help to take most of the particulate matter out of the water before it reaches the sump. Hope this helps.

I agree with urban...the "ceramic" wall and the wall after the carbon should be higher up.
