oceanic plus model 4 protien skimmer? and upgraded the pump?

It came with a EHEIM 1048 pump 10 years ago and was cleanig it out tonit and broke it
what would be a good replacement / and if i went with a bigger pump would this improve it?

for those of you without this skimmer what happens if you have to much GPH on a venteri skimmer?
