Sump/refuge set-up question

Here is my idea for a sump set-up. I really just want to add water volume to my 50 gallon SPS display and make maintanence easier. The display will drain into a 50 gallonrubbermaid stock tank that will have the protein skimmer in it and will just be water so that the detritis will settle out and allow me to syphon off during water changes. this will drain into a second 50 gallon that will have at least Live rock in it, maybe a refugium. that will drain into a 100 gallon that will be half way filled for extra water volume as well as overflow prevention in case of power outage.

is this a good set-up? I have never had a refugium, is it worth it? if so, what should I include, and how should I set it up?

thanks for any advice you can give.

Jason

More water volume is always good.As far as fuge with SPS,some will argue against it.(Nutrient sink) I prefer useing one to help with stablity.ie Ph,02,etc.

It sounds like a great idea to me. I am a big fan of refugiums.

well, i am trying to way the pros and cons. I guess i could just have it with live rock. Doesn't having part of the sump lit help with the stability of pH? Plus wouldn't it be benefitial to have a fuge with macro algae to keep nitrates at zero?
