What should I put over my strainer on my closed loop?
Hi everyone,
I was informed that I need to put something over my strainer, in my closed loop, to keep fish, snails, corals etc from being sucked onto it. So I am wondering what you all suggest? I would like it to be black because everything in the tank is black and I don't want anything standing out too much. Thank you. Please let me know.

If you already have a strainer on the intake pipe then you should be fine. Just make sure the holes on the strainer aren't big enough to let fish or snails through.

The holes aren't big at all. I was informed though that my main fish, mandarin dragonet, would get stuck on the strainer so I need to cover it with something else as well. Like a craft mesh material of some sort. Corals are also able to get stuck on this so I've heard. Is your 55 closed loop with a strainer? What size pump do you run? I read an article on Austinoceans.com. It states, Closed Loop Warning. Let me know what you think.

I forgot to mention that my bulkhead is threaded so I chose a strainer that was threaded at the end so I could just screw it on. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Please let me know. Thank you.
