Please help me ID this (large pics inside)
I think its a weird form of macro algae but I have no idea what!

It's Neomeris annulata, a calcium-based macro algae. This is what it looks like when it gets bigger. I really like it.

Wow cool thanks for the super fast ID! Of all the algae in my tank I suppose I will want to hang onto this one ;p And keep an eye on my calcium levels too I suppose for my LPS

No problem... i'm sitting here eating lunch at work and surfing the new posts lol.
They don't use a lot of calcium. I doubt you'll notice a change at all from them unless you have 100s. If you look at their internal structure its a hollow tube surrounded by a calcium-based flakey material. I know this because my scarlets have been eating mine... the little jerks!
