So I'm starting off new and I was wonde about something with my filter. I have a wet/dry filter and I wanna know ow low does the prefilter have to be? and is it normal that I have to fill the filter up everyweek with water?

Not sure on the prefilter-is the tank drilled or are you using an overflow box?
A heated tank that is not tightly covered can definitely evaporate that much water per week, requiring a weekly top off. |

Its a over hang type...I wish I could do the other, actually can I? or no..and yes my tank has to be heated, so that solves that one about the evaporation

You could do the other if you get your tank drilled and obtain parts. Many folks use the type you have without a problem.
Are you asking about a sponge prefilter or the height of the overflow in the tank? What brand of overflow is it? The level in the tank is your preference. Are you having a specific problem with it? |

Well me and my friend were thinking and the overflow is a little small cause when I got the filter they gave me a little biggier pump then the one I was suppose to have. And I don't know if thats a problem or not. Mostly my concern was how much water do people usually lose a week
