Questions on lighting
I have a 29g that I am just starting. I just purchsed a 250w MH retro kit, and I don;t know what other lighting I need for the tank. I know the MH will do everything I want to do, but I don't want to have to run that 10-12 hours a day. Can I just use regular T8 fixture from Home Depot with a different bulb in it for my dawn and dusk lighting?? Any suggestions would be awesome!!!!

No to the T8 from home depot. What you need to supplement depends on the color of your MH Light. Actinics are the way to go. I'd use a T5 retro set up from www.reefgeek.com or www.aquactinics.com
the T8 fixture will contribute much to the overall health of your tank and there aren't many bulbs to chose from. A T5 retro would allow a multitude of color options fo supplement your MH set-up
