Refractometer
I AM KNEW TO THE HOBBY , I'AM PLANNNING ON SETTING UP A REEF TANK AND I HEAR BAD THINGS ABOUT HYDROMETERS.I WAS LOOKING AT CAPITIVE PURITY REFRACTOMETERS, AND I WAS WOUNDERING IF THEY ARE EASY TO USE AND CALIBRATE.TAKE IN MIND THAT I HAVE NEVER USED ONE BEFORE,OR HAVE I CHECKED SPECIFC GRAVITY .WOULD I BE BETTER OFF USEING A HYDROMETER. OR IS IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT COMES TO USEING A REFRACTOMETER AND CALIBRATING THEM! ALSO ARE THESE GOOD REFRACTOMETERS. IF NOT NAME SOME GOOD BRANDS.THANKS ALL!!!!!

A refractometer is VERY easy to use. Just put a couple drops of water on it and look in the little hole.

go with a refractometer. I was so relieved when I got mine. its a sybon i think, I got mine from www.Premiumaquatics.com I didn't get the cheapest one, i got the one that was more expensive and have checked it four times to to see if it needs calibrated and it has been dead on each time. Didn't even need to calibrate when I received it but still checked it.
